about me

Hi! My name is Kait and I am an attorney, an author, and a Disney aficionado! I am a soon-to-be dog mom to a French Bulldog, am addicted to my Fitbit, and can usually be found drinking green tea while either reading, writing, or playing board games with friends (I highly recommend The Resistance, unless you still want to be friends with your friends at the end).

I have always loved to read and have aspired to be an author ever since finishing my first Junie B. Jones book. During law school, I wrote my first published piece, ‘Mickey Mouse’s Intellectual Property Adventure: What Disney’s War on Copyrights Has to Do with Trademarks and Patents.’ After graduating from law school with a J.D. and a concentration in intellectual property, I decided to continue to pursue my writing, both as an attorney and otherwise. That is how this blog came to be!

While I hope to publish many more legal articles, I also want to publish a novel, a series, and possibly a non-fiction book about amusement parks, movies, or legal aspects of the entertainment field. I want to write something entertaining, something clever, something inspiring. I want to create stories, characters, and worlds that readers will fall in love with for generations to come. I want to explore my own imagination and take others along for the ride! If you choose to join me here, please remember to keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times and, of course, enjoy the ride!

about the blog

I decided to start a blog for three main reasons. First, so that I would have a space to regularly write and publish shorter pieces while I worked on longer pieces (and thus a way to step away from the longer pieces when needed, but still continue writing). Second, so that I could document my writing journey going forward (through blogging about writing itself and by developing series on topics I am interested in writing about). Third, so that I can connect with other readers and writers and put my work out there for others to (hopefully) enjoy!

The blog is, at its core, about reading and writing – about books, about the craft of writing, about my reflections on my writing journey, how I am developing my own voice and carrying it through my writing, what types of reading and writing exercises I am completing to improve my writing, what I’m reading and what I’m taking away from what I’m reading, and any other discussions related to reading and writing that I stumble upon along the way.

The blog is also about other things I am interested in – television, movies, amusement parks, business, the law, and more. My goal is to develop blog series within these areas of interest that will serve to educate and entertain anyone who reads them!

Walt Disney famously said that “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” This is how I see my blog: not as a project to be finished, but as one that I can grow with and expand indefinitely. Something I can build on for years to come. Though it is not a physical space, “there’s enough land here to hold all the ideas and plans [I] can possibly imagine,” just like Disney World.
